TinQwise launching interactive target group app

What is the target group app?
‘Together with Contextmapp, we’ve created an app that helps us to research our learning solutions more effectively. We can use the app to gather information in an even more targeted way. And more importantly, even when we’re not there!’

Why has TinQwise created this app?
‘In our projects, we’re focusing more and more on research. And when we’re looking for a solution, we always start with the target group. We visit the organisation and hold interviews. But we can’t speak to everybody, of course. So we developed this app to get even more information directly from the target group. Because who knows better what is needed than the target group itself? With the app, it’s easier to monitor input over a longer period. That way, we can extract a huge amount of information from the target group, even when we’re not there. Plus, it’s an extra check after we’ve visited the target group to make sure that we’ve understood everything properly and that the learning solution really fits.’

How does the target group app work?
‘If you’d like to know more, you can download the app for Android or iPhone in the App Store (search for TinQwise), but you can only log on if TinQwise has invited you. If you’re part of the target group, we’ll send you login information so that you can be interviewed using the app. Among other things, we’ll ask you to take a photo or make a video or audio clip, or we’ll ask you open-ended questions. You’ll receive a push message when a new question is ready with a time limit. This is how we gather information. We can also request very targeted information.’

Can you give an example?
‘We’re now going to roll out the app at a large university of applied sciences. We want to ask the students how their digital working environment looks and whether it works. So we’ll use the app to ask them where they are, what they’re doing and if they’d like to take a photo of their screen, for example. We might also ask them to “name two things that you’d improve”. Or if we were rolling it out in a company: “Take a photo of something that you feel represents your company’s core values.” This is then extra input for the project. We ultimately create the learning solutions for the end user. By working in this way, we want to gear it more to the needs of the target group. We can also use it as an evaluation tool to check whether a learning solution is actually functioning in the way we intended.’

What kind of reactions did you get?
‘We now have the first test results and they’re very encouraging. It costs very little time and people always like to use their smartphones for visual material and interaction. This is because people often want to work on their own development, but don’t particularly want to spend half a day on a test panel or something like that. With this method, everybody is free to contribute in their own way and it doesn’t take up too much of their time. I believe it’s going to do great things for the quality of our learning solutions.’
