Forklifts, aerial platforms, and cranes are a crucial part of many companies. Safety comes first at all times in these positions. Still, operators often underestimate the risks at play, regardless of their experience. Rules are regarded as things that belong in manuals, not everyday practice. Since accidents happen when you least expect them, IVM asked TinQwise: “How can you get our people to focus on safe working practices?”

Effe Heffe (‘Let’s Get It Up’) offers an interactive learning method that’ll demonstrate to drivers how to deal with their vehicle, load, and environment. This training combines online learning and practical application in an unique way. Most importantly, it connects to the participant’s experience by using banter and a tough-as-nails approach in the videos. Serious content, but with a twist, using everyday situations people in the field can relate to.

Smarter

The design of the ‘Let’s Get It Up’ focuses not only on the learner’s knowledge and skills, but also on persuasion. Drivers should not only be aware of the rules, but also be motivated to follow these regulations: it’s the only way they’ll adapt their behavior. In order to keep them focused, ‘Let’s Get It Up’ offers a combination of active and passive working methods. Knowing how to do something, and actually being able to get it done.

More social

It’s precisely this combination of active and passive working methods that makes ‘Let’s Get It Up’ such a social effort. Once drivers have learned something new, they can immediately put it to the test in practice, together with their co-workers. During the training, they get to test things with the characters Bryan and Herman.

Starring roles

One is an experienced driver; the other a rookie. Two different characters the participant can identify with – are you more like Bryan, or more like Herman? The challenge for the more experienced participant is that he’s so well-versed with how to do his job that he doesn’t see the risks anymore. Meanwhile, the less experienced driver isn’t skilled enough yet to see the risks coming.
