360° Food Safety Experience

360° Food Safety Experience

How do you train more than 25,000 employees in 49 countries who speak 36 different languages in Food Safety Compliance? Employees working in varying conditions and local legislation?

Thousands of employees work in different kitchens with varying (local) regulations. Yet all of them - all 25,000 - have to pass the same external food safety audit every year. So what do you do? TinQwise developed a mobile online learning solution: the 360° Food Safety Experience.

This learning solution provided considerable challenges: safeguarding privacy whilst integrating social media; incorporating local legislation whilst being globally uniform; available in 36 languages; an LMS which can host 200,000 learning employees at the same time; offering short learning interventions as well as different learning tools and learning environments, to mention just a few.

Smarter

To be sure that this was a success, both we and the client invested a great deal in research and stakeholder management. We interviewed the food top management. We organised numerous workshops with internal food experts. We even went into the kitchens and stood next to the employees for whom we were developing the learning solution and we worked with the food safety ambassadors who ensured that the learning solution was enthusiastically received.

More social

The design is modern and therefore reflects the world of the many young employees. We used technology and design that most people already know and use outside work. So it was immediately familiar to them. Like elements based on the look & feel of Spotify, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. Participants could even take photos and post them on a global virtual ‘photo wall’; Instagram at work.

More social

See, feel, act

When you work in a kitchen, things are constantly happening, in front of you, next to you and behind you. In all these cases, you need a 360 degree view around you. From that basis, participants immediately learn everything on three levels: See stands for knowledge, Feel stands for social learning among participants themselves and Act stands for applying the acquired knowledge in their own kitchen. For example, people walk straight to the fridge holding their mobiles to learn how to check the temperature (experimental learning). That’s food for thought - to stay in the kitchen...
